Benefits and uses of Neroli essential oil
1. It can be used on the skin to reduce the appearance of scars
Like all essential oils, neroli essential oil is very concentrated and, therefore, very strong. To apply it on the skin, it should be mixed with a carrier oil, so that the essential oil is only approximately a 4% concentration. When applied to scars or stretch marks, it acts as a skin regenerator and will help the scars to heal and fade.
2. It relaxes the mind
Neroli essential oil can also be a very valuable oil to use in aromatherapy. Used in a diffuser, the oil releases a calming and relaxing scent, which acts as a mild tranquillizer. It can be useful for the treatment of anxiety, stress and it can even help alleviate the symptoms of depression.
3. It can help maintain blood pressure
4. Use it as a treatment for acne
Like many essential oils, neroli essential oil has powerful anti-bacterial properties. To treat particularly bad breakouts, moisten a ball of cotton wool in water first, to provide some dilution to the oil, and then apply a few drops of neroli essential oil to the cotton wool. Dab on the affected area gently and it will kill off the bacteria that cause breakouts.
5. Treat cuts and wounds
In an emergency, dab some diluted neroli essential oil on a cut or a wound and it will protect it against infection. The anti-bacterial properties of the oil are so potent that it can kill the germs that cause cholera and typhoid, and it can also be used as a protection against tetanus until the patient can get to a doctor and receive a proper tetanus injection.
6. It improves the circulation
Neroli essential oil is thought to stimulate the blood circulation in the body. Mixed with a carrier oil, it makes a fantastic oil to use for a massage and you can also add a few drops to your bath water for a relaxing and soothing bath experience.
7. Use it as a sweet smelling deodorant
Neroli essential oil is used a lot in perfumes to add a citrus scent to a fragrance. As well as its beautiful scent, it also has a natural deodorising effect. Mixed with a carrier oil, you can use it on your body as a deodorising body lotion, or you can spray it into the air in your home and it will neutralize any bad odours.
You can use neroli oil to treat fungal infections on the skin. Its powerful anti-fungal properties make it an effective treatment for skin conditions, such as athlete’s foot and ringworm.
9. It has anti-ageing properties
Mixed with a carrier oil and used regularly, neroli essential oil will also help to protect you against the signs of ageing. It contains anti-oxidants that will fight the damage to skin that is caused by free-radicals and it also helps to promote the growth of new skin cells.
10. It is an antispasmodic
